Research and Development

Research and Development is a part of the core functions of CMC Finland. As outlined in the Human Security Research Programme, research conducted in the Centre focuses on five themes:

  • Peacebuilding
  • Preparedness and Prevention
  • Comprehensive Approach
  • Equality and Gender
  • Expertise and Know-how

The research conducted at CMC Finland is practical in orientation and related to enhancing the training and recruitment of personnel for crisis management and peacebuilding missions and providing recommendations in order to develop national capacities and crisis management and peacebuilding operations. The emphasis of the independent research is on case studies related to present operations.

The Research and Development activities have been primarily funded through the European Social Fund -projects Regional Development Programme for Security and Civilian Crisis Management and Expertise in Civilian Crisis Management – Regional Development Programme 2008-2010.
