Research activities within BR2007

BR2007 is an excellent platform for various R&D Projects. We encourage the organisations to use it to test, experiment and validate their operating procedures, equipment, information sharing etc.

The research may be done individually but we recommend that you join with other research projects for both administrative and operational purposes.

The Emergency Services College R&D Department is in charge of the research activities within BR2007 and in order to coordinate various projects we would like you to take the following steps:

  •  Fill in the R&D registration form
  •  Follow the R&D info in the BR2007 web pages
  •  Network with other R&D projects 
  •  Conduct your research 
  •  Submit a short report for the Exercise evaluation purposes

Registered research projects

BR07 Exercise Evaluation Plan

The Emergency Services College R&D Department is in charge of the evaluation Barents Rescue 2007. To fulfill this task an Evaluation Team will be established. Both the activities during the planning period and the execution of the exercise will be evaluated. The Team is establishing necessary routines for evaluation and reporting, and will also organise, instruct and lead Evaluation Field Teams during the live exercise.

Evaluations are being done continuously and during the planning period the Team will try to attended activities such as conferences, workshops, working group session’s etc. The Evaluation Team will in addition to preparing the Final Evaluation Report, report periodically to the Exercise Director.

The objective of the Evaluation Team is to provide an overall t evaluation of Exercise Barents Rescue 2007. The purpose of the evaluations is:

  • To assess whether the aims and objectives of the Exercise Barents Rescue 2007 are achieved.
  • To identify for the organiser CMCFinland lessons learned how to manage large scale international exercises.
  • To suggest what is needed in Barents Exercise process in order to plan the future BR exercises.
  • To suggest improvements concerning plans and procedures between countries and their respective organisations that may become involved in an emergency within the Barents Region.
