| Barents Rescue 2007
Barents Rescue is a series of field training exercises that are organised and conducted by the countries within the framework of the Barents Cooperation. The exercise rotates between Finland acts as the Chair of the Barents Euro-Arctic Council (BEAC) from November 10, 2005 to autumn 2007. In accordance with the conclusions from the Barents Euro Arctic Council (BEAC) Finland will host the next international exercise focusing search and rescue and crisis management operations. Barents Rescue 2007 (BR07) involves primarily agencies and services involved in crisis management and search and rescue operations in the Barents region. BR07 will take place in Saariselkä, Inari, in northern Finland on 18-21 October, 2007. Barents Rescue 2007 aims to facilitate communications, coordination and cooperation between countries and civil-military services that may become involved in an emergency in relation to the Barents Region. The objectives of the exercise are promoting and strengthening trans-boundary cooperation between authorities in the Barents Region: The overall objectives of the exercise are: In addition to these common exercise objectives, participating nations may want to add national exercise objectives to support overall objectives. Supporting objectives are to be specified to each part of the exercise as well as to the evaluation process. The scenario for the exercise BR07 will be an aviation accident. Evaluation and lessons learned from the process are also of a great value to the BEAC countries when developing their capabilities in the crisis management.
