Fire Fighter

Fire fightersFire fighters are multi-skilled professionals in the emergency field. Fire fighters extinguish fires, save people in accidents, treat patients and transport them to continued treatment and take part in maintaining the readiness to respond to alarms in station service. The work also includes more and more accident prevention, e.g. giving information and advice, safety training, fire inspections of one family houses and operative fire inspections.

The physical and mental readiness of action is an important part of the fire fighter job. A fire fighter must prove to be physically fit every year. During the work career a fire fighter must keep up the professional skills, knowledge and physical condition by training constantly. This is the reason why strong commitment and motivation to the work is required.

To be able to work as a fire fighter one should be able to obey orders and adapt oneself to group discipline. Rescue and pre-hospital emergency care assignments often cause strong mental pressure and therefore fire fighters should be creative and be able to apply their skills and knowledge fast and efficiently but still rationally.
