Regardless of their professional background, the basic course for civilian crisis management provides experts with the capability to work in an operation. In addition, the content of the basic course covers the knowledge and skills that participants will need regardless of the type of civilian crisis management task they are seeking. The course aims to provide participants with a realistic picture of their daily work and to prepare them for the challenges they may face on the ground.
In addition to the basic course, further training will be organised on various themes such as human rights, mentoring and advice, project management and comprehensive crisis management. As a rule, these courses are meant for persons who have already completed the basic course for civilian crisis management (equivalent) and who have already worked in civilian crisis management operations.
Mission-Specific Induction Training will be provided for experts selected for civilian crisis management tasks just before their departure to the operating area. This will ensure that the transition to new tasks is as smooth as possible.
Anyone wishing to perform civilian crisis management tasks must be aware of the risks involved in carrying out civilian crisis management field tasks, and they must also have the basic information necessary for risk management. Therefore, experts shall attend the Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) at the latest once they have been selected for a high-risk operation.
