Finnish capacity in the field of UN training was strengthened as CMC\u2019s Training Specialist Outi Lappalainen acquired trainer certification for the newly updated United Nations Pre-Deployment Training for peacekeepers in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From now on, Lappalainen can train future peacekeepers in the framework of UN Pre-Deployment Training Materials (CPTM) which serves as a cornerstone in preparing peacekeepers for the complex realities of modern missions. Designed for military, police, and civilian personnel, the training ensures that all UN peacekeepers share a unified understanding of the organisation\u2019s values, mandates, and operational standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At its core, the training promotes professionalism, ethical conduct, and respect for human rights. It equips personnel with essential knowledge about the UN Charter, peacekeeping principles, and the legal frameworks that guide their actions. The training emphasises the protection of civilians, gender mainstreaming, child protection, and the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, which are critical areas in today\u2019s peacekeeping landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pre-deployment training also fosters cultural awareness and collaboration. Peacekeepers learn to engage respectfully with local communities and coordinate effectively with international partners.
