CMC Finland is seeking candidates for the Preparedness Training for Environmental Field Advisors in CSDP coursetaking place in Stockholm, Sweden 16 to 20 March 2026. The course is organized by MSB (Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency) under the aegis of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC).
About the course
This course serves to prepare Environmental Advisors for service in EU CSDP Missions and other security settings. While adhering to the mission first prerogative, the course will provide the Environmental Advisor with tools and insights to pursue mainstreaming of environment, including climate, through entry points into the Civilian Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions.
The course consists of an e-Learning section (training material and thematic videos of approximately 4 hours) and a 5-day residential session including thematic presentations culminating into moderated discussions, role-plays, exchanges with experienced Environmental Advisors and individual engagement plans will be held at the MSB Training Facility Rosersberg, close to Stockholm, Sweden.
Target audience
CMC Finland is seeking for a candidate who has environmental advisory capacity, ideally with environmental academic level education equivalent to minimum of BSc level and minimum of 3 years working experience. Proven knowledge and experience from working in conflict and security environments is an asset. The candidate shall furthermore be available and apply for deployment should the opportunity arise.
The candidate should have participated in Basic Course on Civilian Crisis Management (or sent to equivalent course by CMC Finland) and/or been deployed before by CMC Finland can apply to the course through CMC Finland. Those who are currently deployed by CMC should primarily apply through their mission/operation.
CMC Finland will nominate a candidate to the course, but the organiser is responsible for the final participant selection process. The nominated candidate of CMC Finland is not guaranteed to have a seat from the course. Those who are currently deployed to a mission should primarily apply through their mission.
Costs
CMC Finland will cover the plane tickets and reimburse the accommodation and in-country travel costs during the residential modules. The course organizer covers the costs of meals during the training. There is no tuition fee. CMC Finland does not pay per diems for the training.
