Sustainable development
Sustainable development refers to steered global and local change with an aim to provide current and future generations with opportunities to live a good life in an environmentally and climate-friendly manner. In 2015, the UN Member States committed themselves to eliminating extreme poverty and other common Sustainable Development Goals through the 2030 Agenda. The 2030 Agenda contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which have been further specified in sub goals. Their implementation is monitored by means of global and country-specific indicators.
Finland is committed to the Agenda both in Finland and in international cooperation. Many SDGs relate to civilian crisis management.
CMC Finland promotes sustainable development through its own sustainable development strategy. We are also involved in the Commitment2050 campaign and prepare an annual sustainability report (in Finnish).
