Course description
The Basic Course on Civilian Crisis Management (BCCCM) applies to all roles, categories and levels and thus is independent of the specific function where the expert will be deployed. BCCCM takes into account the training requirements of various international organisations, for example:
- EU Policy on Training for CSDP and EU Civilian Training Group Strategic Guidance on CSDP Civilian Training
- UN Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials (CPTM, 2017) and in the case of police STM UNPOL (2009)
- OSCE Competency Model
CMC Finland’s BCCCM also takes note of the work done and standards established in the context of e.g. the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) and the EU-funded training projects Europe’s Training Initiative for Civilian Crisis Management (ENTRi), EU Police and Civilian Services Training (EUPCST) and EU Civilian Training Initiative (EUCTI).
Course objectives
Basic Course on Civilian Crisis Management (BCCCM) provides participants with the basic knowledge, skills, and capabilities needed for working as an expert in the field of Civilian Crisis Management.
Time and venue
The course will take place in Finland between 8 – 14 April 2024. Course venue will be confirmed closer to the course dates. Participants are required to complete selected e-learning modules in the preparatory phase preceding the residential part of this course. A compulsory mock interview for civilian crisis management positions will be arranged for Finnish participants within two months after the residential phase.
Target group
CMC Finland is looking for applicants who have expertise in the fields relevant for international operations and are motivated to apply for such positions. The course is aimed for persons who meet the minimum requirements in work experience (3 years of relevant work experience; 6 years for Finnish police officers and 3 years for civilians working in Police of Finland). We are looking for experts from a variety of different backgrounds. Please refer to the list of job descriptions to see examples of the positions that have previously been open to see whether they match your profile.
Successful completion of BCCCM is highly recommended before applying to crisis management positions through CMC Finland.
Costs
CMC Finland covers the tuition fee, accommodation, and meals throughout the course. No per diem is provided by CMC Finland. Travels to and from the course venue should be arranged independently. Information on costs related to trainings for police officers and civilians working in the Police of Finland can be found on the decision of National Police Board (POL-2020-56609).
Application
The application period for participants has closed. All applicants will be informed of the outcome of the selections by the end of 2023.
