The Finnish Centre of Expertise in Comprehensive Crisis Management, comprising of FINCENT and CMC Finland, is organising the EU Integrated Crisis Management course for the fifth time on 8 – 13 September in Helsinki. The course looks at the various instruments the EU can utilise in its external actions and their limitations and strengths. The trainers are experts from EU’s various services and are involved in implementing the integrated approach in their daily work.

The aim of the integrated approach is to make EU’s actions more effective. For the different tools and instruments to work together and complement each other so as to multiply their impact. But what does this mean in practical terms? How is this really done? What needs to be taken into account when planning EU’s external action in an integrated way?

The course gives students a holistic understanding of EU’s external action and their role in it when they are deployed as part of a CSDP mission. A scenario reflecting the current security environment is utilized throughout the course. The students will assess various instruments and plan the EU’s integrated response during the course.
