Civilian crisis management seminar on United Nations recruitment and selection procedures was a success gathering a record number of participants in Helsinki

 

Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Police and Ministry of the Interior based Crisis Management Centre (CMC) Finland hosted a seminar on UN recruitment and selection procedures in Helsinki on January 9th, 2020 for a record audience of 200 participants.

 

Key Note speaker, Mr Ata Yenigun, Chief of Selection and Recruitment Section, Police Division, Department of Peacekeeping Operations, presented UN police career opportunities and main principles of competence based recruitment process for seconded and contracted UN posts.

The seminar included also practical hands-on advices and lessons learned how to success in applying for UN posts by Ms. Satu Värri, Mission Manager, Police Division, UN secreteriat; Mr. Jaakko Christensen, Senior Detective Superintendent, Head of Financial Intelligence Unit, National Bureau of Investigation; Mr. Vesa Väänänen, former Specialized SGBV Police Team Leader in UNMISS South Sudan and Mr. Mika Mäkelä, former  Rule of Law-expert in UNSOM Somalia.

In Finland, CMC Finland is responsible for the recruitment and selection process concerning experts applying for seconded civilian crisis management posts.
