CMC Finland is seeking candidates at short notice for the Mediation, Negotiation and Dialogue (MND) Skills for the CSDP course taking place in Larnaca, Cyprus 11 to 15 May 2026. The course is organized by University of Cyprus, Maynooth University National University of Ireland – Kennedy Institute for Conflict Intervention, Cyprus Security and Defence Academy and European Security and Defence College. About the course
The course aims to develop the participants’ ability to negotiate for themselves and to use the mediation process, which includes negotiation in helping other parties to prevent, manage and resolve conflicts. The practical part of the course (simulation) provides an opportunity for the participants to apply and to put into practice what they have learned and relate to a relevant international peace-building scenario.
After the course, participant will be able to apply core MND techniques and skills to manage disputes, communicate effectively under pressure, address intercultural challenges, and contribute actively to conflict prevention and crisis management in support of mission mandates.
Target audience
CMC Finland is seeking for a candidate who has participated in the Basic Training on Civilian Crisis Management (or sent to equivalent course by CMC Finland) and who have been deployed by CMC before or who are planning to apply to positions through CMC Finland. The course is intended for public servants from defence, justice, diplomatic services, police and military establishments, as well as personnel currently preparing for deployment to civilian CSDP missions who wish to develop and enhance mediation, negotiation, and dialogue skills for CSDP crisis management. Those who are currently deployed by CMC should primarily apply through their mission/operation.
The applications are reviewed based on the applicants’ activity in applying for civilian crisis management missions, the positions they are seeking, and the extent to which the skills learned during the course can be applied to the role they are pursuing.
CMC Finland will nominate a candidate to the course, but the organiser is responsible for the final participant selection process. The nominated candidate of CMC Finland is not guaranteed to have a seat from the course. Those who are currently deployed to a mission should primarily apply through their mission.
Costs
CMC Finland will cover the plane tickets and reimburse the accommodation and in-country travel costs during the residential modules. CMC Finland does not pay per diems nor the meals during the training. There is no tuition fee.
