CMC Finland recruits two interns for autumn 2026. The internships are related to the government’s objective of recruiting 500 young people during 2026 into new fixed-term positions as seasonal workers and university or university of applied sciences interns. The positions are intended for individuals aged 18–25 who are applying for their first job in the government sector.
Crisis Management Centre (CMC) Finland is a governmental institution under the Ministry of the Interior and a centre of expertise in civilian crisis management, contributing to international conflict prevention, peacebuilding and stabilisation.
CMC Finland recruits one intern to its Training Unit and one intern to its Research, Development and Situational Awareness Unit for autumn 2026. The duration of the internship is three months. The location of the internship is Helsinki.
Intern in the Training Unit
Job Description
The intern’s primary responsibility is to assist with course arrangements and logistics. The Training Unit intern supports the training coordinator and training assistant in organising various course events, helps with administrative tasks, and assists in driving vehicles used for the courses. The intern must be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
An internship in the Training Unit of CMC Finland provides a good overall understanding of civilian crisis management, its practical work in Finland, and working within a governmental organisation.
The salary is 1566,72 € per month for university of applied sciences interns and 1671,17 € per month for the university interns. The salary is determined in accordance with the pay level of other government university and university of applied sciences interns. The selected candidate must not receive other public financial support for the internship.
The duration of the internship is three months, from 24 August to 23 November 2026.
What We Expect from Applicants
The positions are intended for individuals aged 18–25 who are applying for their first job in the government sector. The intern must be a student in an university or university of applied sciences. In addition to fluency in Finnish, excellent spoken and written English skills are required.
Studies in the field of Peace and Conflict studies, International Relations, Development Studies, Security
Management or any other relevant field provide the best background for this position.
The intern must have a Category B driving license and the ability to drive a van with manual gear. The position also requires willingness to travel and readiness to perform physical work. Experience in event management is considered an advantage.

Intern in the Research, Development and Situational Awareness Unit
Job Description
The intern’s main responsibilities include broadly supporting the research, development, and situational awareness activities of CMC Finland. This may involve, for example, supporting the activities of a project aimed at developing national governance systems, assisting with event management, collecting and analysing feedback, and participating in the planning and implementation of development initiatives. Depending on the intern’s capabilities, they may also have the opportunity to carry out more independent analytical work.
The internship provides not only a solid overall understanding of civilian crisis management, but also insight into international cooperation in relation to events and projects, and supports the intern’s readiness to move into roles in working life that require analytical skills.
The salary is 1566,72 € per month for university of applied sciences interns and 1671,17 € per month for the university interns. The salary is determined in accordance with the pay level of other government university and university of applied sciences interns. The selected candidate must not receive other public financial support for the internship.
The duration of the internship is three months, from 1 October to 31 December 2026.
