About the course

CMC Finland is seeking candidates for the Mastering the Art of Leadership in Peace Operations and Fragile Environments. The course is organized by Center for International Peace Operations (ZIF) and it will be organized in Hamburg, Germany in 14 – 19 April 2024.

CMC Finland will accept applications until 1615 hours (UTC +02.00) on March 11th 2024. Applicants, who are completed the basic course on civilian crisis management organized or appointed by CMC or have been deployed by CMC before currently not serving in a mission should apply by filling out the form below. Those currently serving in a mission should apply through their own mission.

Objectives

The course provides participants with the space to reflect on and develop their leadership skills together with peers and facilitators. The course concept is based on the idea that a guided journey, which links personal values, personality and experience working in fragile environments with one‘s leadership skills, is the best way to improve and eventually ‘master’ leadership.

Target audience

The target audience for the course are civilian, police and military experts deployed to management positions in peace operations (UN, EU, OSCE, AU, NATO) and international development cooperation programs/projects.

CMC Finland is seeking candidates who have participated in the basic training on civilian crisis management and/or who have been deployed by CMC before. Those who are currently deployed by CMC should primarily apply through their mission/operation. Please contact CMC (training@cmcfinland.fi) if applying through your mission is not possible.

CMC Finland is nominating candidate(s) for the course, but the organizer is responsible for the final participant selection process. The nominated candidates of CMC Finland are not guaranteed to have a seat from the course.
The organizer´s selection of participants will be based upon applicant backgrounds, experiences, gender balance and nationality, and remains with the organizers.

Costs

CMC Finland will cover the plane tickets and intra-country travel costs during the residential modules for the selected candidate(s). The course organizer provides accommodation. CMC Finland does not pay per diems nor the meals during the training. CMC will cover the costs only for the selected applicants who have applied by filling in the form below.

Deadline

Applicants may apply to the course by filling out the Application Form here, no later than 11 March 2024 at 1615 hrs. Nominated candidate(s) will receive a message of confirmation in one or two days after the deadline.
